Responsibilities and Duties:
- 1. Patent Landscape & FTO Search - Reviewing new client technologies to identify innovative features while analyzing the competitive landscape.
- 2. Working with team and clients to draft patent applications with clarity and technical accuracy.
- 3. Portfolio Development - Successfully prosecuting patent portfolios in the US and worldwide.
- 4. Integrating patent strategy with business and market opportunities.
- 5. Supervising staff and managing billing to budget.
Requirements:
- • PhD in biological sciences preferred; Master’s degree +3-years’ experience considered.
- • Experience with biotech/pharmaceutical patent prosecution is required.
- • USPTO Registration is required, Mass Bar preferred.
- • Must be independently motivated to succeed and measure success on a team level.
- • Managing and mentoring staff is helpful.

Senior Patent Agent
The Senior Patent Agent we are in search of will have a broad range of responsibilities, including identifying patentable inventions, helping to draft and prosecute patent applications, and supporting IP due diligence efforts for various projects. This individual will work closely with scientists, internal and external counsel and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- 1. Partner with stakeholders, including scientists, project teams and the leadership team, and consult with counsel, as needed, to capture internal and collaborative innovation.
- 2. Implement IP strategies.
- 3. Draft and prosecute patent applications.
- 4.Monitor competitive space and conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate assessments.
- 5.Support IP due diligence efforts.
- 6.Support cross-functional program teams in reviewing publications and IP related public disclosure.
- 7.Maintain expertise in intellectual property and patent practice to best advise program teams and leadership.
Requirements:
- • 3+ years hands-on experience in drafting and prosecuting biotech/pharma patent applications.
- •Understanding of US and EP patent law as well as major global patent systems.
- •Understanding of US and EP patent law as well as major global patent systems.
- •PhD or similar qualification in a in biological science (e.g., Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry) strongly preferred; BS/MS degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, or Immunology with substantial relevant research experience will be considered.
- •Previous experience at a law firm preferred.
- •Admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- •Demonstrated ability to function independently, and to multi-task, problem solve, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
- •Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex
concepts and strategies to a diverse audience.
- •Strong organizational and prioritization skills; should be a self-starter; should be able to effectively handle multiple matters simultaneously, and should be adept at adjusting priorities when required.
- • Strong business judgment and ability to think strategically.
- • Highly collaborative with strong professionalism and interpersonal skills with a creative and collaborative approach to problem solving.
